Step off the beaten path and discover what's been waiting for you!

Tucked away on the hills overlooking the dramatic seascape of the east coast, ECO Lifestyle + Lodge, formerly known as Sea-U Guest House, is the realized dream of New York natives Kyle & Maryam, who traded the hustle of city life for a slower, more meaningful pace when they moved to Barbados several years ago. With their young family in tow, they’ve firmly established themselves in the local community, setting down roots when they purchased the Bathsheba Guest House in early 2018. Combining their love of travel and adventure with a desire to live a more conscious and healthy lifestyle, Kyle & Maryam are thoughtfully evolving ECO to reflect their balanced approach to living life to the fullest.

They’ve renovated the Lodge to reflect their natural and easy-going style with inviting white hammocks hung between palm trees and decks made for kicking back – they’re the perfect spots to chill out with your feet up or get some extra work done via free WiFi. The 10 guest rooms are designed with comfort in mind; up-cycled mahogany furniture, soft linens and artisanal bath products invite you to unwind. You’ll find personal touches throughout, from items collected on Kyle & Maryam’s travels to inspiring quotes popping up throughout the property. All rooms face east – our view of the eastern horizon is unmatched; each day starts with an illuminating sunrise and ends with a sunset drenched in color.

Check out their new endeavor, ECO Sky Water, with the goal to help to ease the water scarcity and plastic pollution problem by clicking here.

Since its opening in June 2018, the ECO Restaurant has been getting rave reviews from guests and locals alike; with just a dozen tables, the intimate setting offers an innovative farm and sea-to-table menu crafted by internationally trained chefs. The ECO Bar will keep you hydrated with libations ranging from kombucha to rum punch, and the ECO Pantry offers on-the-go snacks, light meals and drinks to fuel your daily excursions.

Through their island connections, Kyle & Maryam have sourced a knowledgeable roster of experienced local guides – from surfing and spear fishing to mountain biking and hiking, we have your adrenaline-pumping adventures covered.

Our guides will share their knowledge as well as a few laughs, making for great memories of your visit to Barbados. We’ll also help you relax with yoga, massage and meditation in the Zen Gully, and can design cleanses or meal plans to nourish body and soul.

We’ve listed some activity options on our site, but anything is possible – reach out to us and we’ll make it happen.

Bathsheba, Barbados

Barbados, one of the Caribbean’s top travel destinations, is well known for its sugary white sand beaches, aquamarine waters and sun-filled skies. With popular cultural and sporting events, a vibrant nightlife and a wealth of attractions on land and sea, there’s much to see and do. Hotels and private villas crowd the south and west coasts, but take a step off the beaten path and you’ll discover one of the island’s best boutique hotels, offering guests a chance to unwind and experience authentic local culture with a modern twist.

ECO Lifestyle + Lodge is located in Bathsheba, a charming, easy going village on the East Coast of Barbados.

Here you’ll find a handful of rum shops, weekend guesthouses and restaurants frequented by locals, surfers and visitors in the know. Those who live on this part of the island have been here for most if not all of their lives – they live and breathe the sea – literally – and are a close-knit community that also looks out for new faces. Along the shoreline, large rock formations rise from the Atlantic Ocean, where typically epic waves are a magnet for surfers. Bathsheba has three popular breaks including the world renowned Soup Bowl, one of WSL World Champion Kelly Slater’s favorite surf spots. While the waves are better left to those who know how to handle them, there’s an abundance of rock pools that are easily accessible at low tide, making the shoreline a favorite with families, too. Picnics are a popular way to spend the day, and the seemingly endless beach at nearby Cattlewash is great for beachcombing.

Supporting Barbados Charities

At ECO, we believe in giving back to our community by raising environmental awareness as well as through social enterprise – it’s a big part of who Kyle and Maryam are and an ethos they want to share with others. There are many Barbados Charities dedicated to helping the less fortunate; ECO has selected and vetted two initiatives that help disadvantaged youth. We encourage you to help us support our local community – every bit adds up to make a huge difference.

Pack For A Purpose

We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination. If you save just a few pounds of space in your suitcase and take supplies for the projects we support in need, you’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.

Our Pack for a Purpose initiative supports Variety the Children’s Charity of Barbados Inc., dedicated to improving the lives of children who are mentally, physically or socially disadvantaged. The Aunty Olga Memorial School Aid Programme, supported by Variety, provides school uniforms, books, backpacks and school supplies to over 300 children from 200 families across Barbados, giving them an equal opportunity at education.

Zander Venezia Trust

Zander Venezia, a young Barbadian surfer, embodied a spirit of selflessness, dedication and living life with a positive impact on those around you. With a promising career ahead of him, Zander regularly trained at Soup Bowl, the Bathsheba break located just below ECO. He also enjoyed volunteering with a local organization helping disabled and underprivileged children learn to surf, saying the experience had a profound effect on him. Sadly, Zander’s life was cut short in 2017. Following a tremendous outpouring of love and support from the local community, his family established the Zander Venezia Trust. All donations go directly to helping disabled and underprivileged children throughout Barbados. At ECO Lifestyle + Lodge, we stand by the motto to #LiveLikeZander, and are committed to supporting the Trust through annual financial support.
